Emergencies

Emergencies do happen, so make sure you know the drill. Knowing what to do and being prepared really can make the difference between an incident and a crisis.

If you need help

Make sure you know how to get help if you need it. Know how to make a mayday call, know how to fire a flare, and know your man overboard drill.

If you see someone in difficulty

In the event of an incident, it is advisable not to attempt a rescue. Instead, call the Coastguard on VHF Channel 16 or DSC or dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Please familiarise yourself with Falmouth Harbour Commissioners’ emergency procedures.

If you see a vessel adrift or in difficulty

Call the Coastguard on VHF Channel 16 or DSC or dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

They will be able to contact the Duty Harbour Master or Falmouth Haven Duty Leisure Manager to assist, if required.
