Cornish marine businesses take part in ‘Parade of Sail’ to show support for the development of Falmouth Docks

Early Friday morning a flotilla of local marine stakeholders, businesses, workboats and commercial vessels took part in a ‘parade of sail’ to show support for the development of Falmouth Docks.
We should remember that the town of Falmouth was founded around its port, and over the last 100 years the docks have passed between six different custodians. We want to give a clear message: that whatever the next 100 years hold, the port needs:
Strong Wharfs: Modern, concrete wharfs that can support large cranes and the heavy marine plant and renewables of the future.
Deep Water Berths: For the ships that will service all our lives in both peacetime and wartime.
Adaptable Infrastructure: Modern and adaptable power, cargo handling, storage, workshops and laydown areas.
Let’s all please work together, conforming to environmental best practice, to make sure we leave a modern, competitive port behind us for future generations.

This was organised by an independent group; this event was NOT organised or attended by Balaena. We only notified Balaena Duty Harbour Master the day before the flotilla and we would like to thank all the docks staff that came out onto the Queens Wharf with a banner to say Thank You.
This was not expected and created a very special moment for those aboard the flotilla vessels.
